The vision of Brookside Education is centered in the basic premise that all children can learn when they are nurtured and taught by knowledgeable and caring adults who believe in them and are committed to their growth. The center works to motivate and strengthen individual confidence and self-determination which will spur personal growth, increase student’s academic achievement, and lead to lifelong learners.
Our educational programs place an emphasis on science, math technology and literacy. Brookside takes a holistic approach to education that also includes mentoring, and life skills training services to at-risk youth. Our program currently operates in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.
Staff works with students and their parents/guardians to develop an individualized learning plan and conduct both formal and informal assessments in order to monitor and communicate student progress to parents and teachers.
Our areas of strength also include working with youth in group homes and those on probation.
Our students improved an average of one grade level after being in the program for six months.Follow-up with students, parents, and teachers found that one year later students had maintained their academic gains. Nine out of ten students in our program reported positive changes in their social behavior as well.
Brookside Education, Inc. also facilitates presentations by guest speakers that include but are not limited to financial responsibility, resume and interview preparation, to career path counseling.
